The story of FireAvert begins with stoves.
Or, in particular, one stove in a long line of stoves that caused fires responded to by Peter Thorpe and his fellow firefighters a few years ago. Arriving at the apartment complex where the fire was raging, they saw the same familiar, devastating features that accompanied each fire caused by unattended cooking: smoke billowing from the building, flames and black smoke rolling out of the apartment, and tenants fleeing for safety while coughing and hoping the fire wouldn’t spread toward their apartments.
As they drove away from the complex, no longer on fire but bearing the scars of the damage, Peter began thinking about how he could prevent these fires from happening in the first place. And, not long after, FireAvert was born.
