Stove Troubleshooting Tips

The story of FireAvert begins with stoves.

Or, in particular, one stove in a long line of stoves that caused fires responded to by Peter Thorpe and his fellow firefighters a few years ago. Arriving at the apartment complex where the fire was raging, they saw the same familiar, devastating features that accompanied each fire caused by unattended cooking: smoke billowing from the building, flames and black smoke rolling out of the apartment, and tenants fleeing for safety while coughing and hoping the fire wouldn’t spread toward their apartments.

As they drove away from the complex, no longer on fire but bearing the scars of the damage, Peter began thinking about how he could prevent these fires from happening in the first place. And, not long after, FireAvert was born.

While you have FireAvert to prevent your stoves from starting fires, there are still plenty of problems you can experience with stoves and ovens that—while not as dangerous—can be nearly as frustrating to deal with. Luckily, many of these common issues are easily fixed on your own. Below is a list of some of the top problems people experience with their beloved appliances, courtesy of American Home Shield.com.

  1. The Gas Burner Won’t Light

  2. The Range Burner Won’t Heat

  3. The Oven Won’t Heat

  4. The Oven Won’t Heat to the Right Temperature

  5. The Oven Door Won’t Shut

  6. The Interior Light Is Out

  7. The Oven Won’t Self-Clean

And if you haven’t installed a FireAvert behind your stove yet, there’s never a better time to do it than right now. We just recently launched the FireAvert for Gas Stoves, so whether you cook on an electric or gas range, your home can be protected from unattended cooking fires.
