Born from the real-life experiences of firefighter Peter Thorpe, FireAvert is on a mission to protect lives and property by bringing smart, easy-to-use fire prevention tech into everyday homes and apartment buildings.

The Origin Story: From Firefighter to Founder
Peter Thorpe spent nearly two decades as a firefighter, and during those years, he saw the same heartbreaking scenario over and over—kitchen fires destroying homes, endangering families, and causing losses that could have been avoided. As Thorpe puts it:
“Every shift as a firefighter, we would respond to cooking fires. I knew there had to be a smarter, preventive way.”
That drive led him to invent the original FireAvert device (now known as the Auto Stove Shutoff) in 2011, and the company has been growing ever since. FireAvert even pitched on Shark Tank, catching the attention of both investors and the public with its life-saving solution.
