How effective is FireAvert in preventing kitchen fires?

Scientifically speaking, FireAvert is very effective at preventing kitchen fires. To understand how FireAvert works, consider the three elements needed for a fire: heat, fuel, and oxygen. FireAvert targets the heat element by automatically shutting off the stove's power or gas when a smoke alarm sounds. This eliminates the heat source, making it unlikely for a fire to start. Hypothetically, even if a flame did appear, it couldn't survive without a continuous heat source.

It's also important to remember that smoke precedes fire. For example, oil in a pan might smoke for 15-30 minutes before it ignites. FireAvert steps in during this pre-fire stage by responding to smoke detection, which is something traditional fire suppression methods can't do.

How does FireAvert compare to traditional fire extinguishers?

FireAvert adds a whole new layer of protection to traditional fire safety measures like fire extinguishers. While extinguishers are great for putting out fires that have already started, FireAvert focuses on preventing them in the first place.

Traditional fire extinguishers are still important, but they require someone to be present and use them. FireAvert, on the other hand, works independently, so it's always ready to go, even if no one is around.

Having both FireAvert and traditional extinguishers gives you a solid safety net against kitchen fires.

Is FireAvert more effective than overhead fire suppression systems?

FireAvert is unique in that it prevents fires by shutting off the stove when smoke is detected, rather than suppressing fires after they've started.

What advantages does FireAvert have over other fire prevention methods?

FireAvert offers automatic shut-off, easy installation, and 24/7 monitoring. It also provides real-time text alerts and a PRO Dashboard for detailed insights on cooking habits and risks.

How often does FireAvert need to be replaced?

FireAvert has a 25+ year life expectancy. It is also reusable and maintenance free.

Are there any ongoing costs associated with FireAvert?

FireAvert's Auto Stove Shutoff devices do not require a subscription to perform their basic fire prevention functionalities. The PRO version of FireAvert devices includes a monitoring fee.

Does FireAvert work with any smoke alarm?

FireAvert devices are designed to work with any modern RESIDENTIAL smoke detector typically found in retail stores that has a frequency around 3.2kHz.

Will FireAvert's Auto Stove Shutoff cause my stove to stick out?

The FireAvert Auto Stove Shutoff is designed to fit discreetly in the void space behind most stoves. However, if your outlet is located in an irregular position, you can use a pigtail extension cord. This pigtail extension provides flexibility to position the FireAvert as needed, allowing the stove to rest snugly against the wall.

Pigtail extension cords are available for both 3-prong and 4-prong configurations.

If you think you might need pigtails for your property, reach out to FireAvert directly. They'll help you determine if you need them.

What happens after FireAvert shuts off a tenant's stove?

When FireAvert activates and shuts off a tenant's stove, the reset process is very simple:

For PRO Auto Stove Shutoff users:

1. A unique QR code is stuck to each tenant's stove during installation.
2. Tenants can scan this QR code using their smartphone to easily reset their stove.

For Non-PRO Auto Stove Shutoff users:

1. A QR code sticker is provided with the device.
2. When scanned, this QR code redirects tenants to FireAvert's "Reset Stove" page on their website.
3. The website provides detailed instructions on how to manually reset their stove.

Manual reset option for all users:

Both PRO and Non-PRO tenants can easily reset their stove manually using the range's circuit breaker:

1. Ensure all stove and oven knobs are in the OFF position.
2. Locate the RANGE/STOVE breaker panel in the home or apartment.
3. Turn the circuit OFF for 3-5 seconds, then turn it back ON.
