Kitchen fires are scary, and they happen way more often than most people think. That’s exactly why FireAvert exists. Born from the real-life experiences of firefighter Peter Thorpe, FireAvert is on a mission to protect lives and property by bringing smart, easy-to-use fire prevention tech into multifamily residential buildings.

From Firefighter to Founder: The Origin Story
Peter Thorpe spent nearly two decades as a firefighter, and during those years, he saw the same scenario happen day in and day out—kitchen fires destroying homes, endangering families, and causing losses that could have been avoided. As Peter puts it:
“Every shift as a firefighter, we would respond to cooking fires. I knew there had to be a smarter, preventive way.”
That drive led him to invent the original FireAvert device (now known as the Auto Stove Shutoff) in 2011, and the company has been growing ever since. FireAvert even pitched on Shark Tank, catching the attention of both investors and the public with its life-saving technology.
Since its inception FireAvert knows that a majority of people live in multifamily residential properties. To help these families FireAvert needs to serve the property owners, managers, and executives.
FireAvert's offerings have expanded since 2011, offering protection from fires in new ways, and providing solutions that prevent water damage.

Using that information, we now offer solutions that detect water damage risks early, and remotely shut the water line to allow maintenance to make repairs before damage compounds.
