Installed, tested, and forgot about it. Today, cooking smoke triggered fire alarm and before I got to turning the alarm off, the stove had shut off. Then I forgot how to reset it. Looked for info on the web and it immediately pulled up a sound that when played restarted the FireAvert in 30 seconds. Great peace of mind!
Works perfectly with electric stove. When smoke alarm goes off. It shuts off stove completely, having to turn stove back on from electrical box in the basement. Will definitely prevent fires and smoke damage.
I can't tell you how many videos I've seen of people trying to extinguish a grease fire with water. If you're unaware, that will make quite the conflagration. You've got to smother the grease fire, not spray it down. This blanket is the solution, superior to a powder fire extinguisher because it never loses its charge. This would make an excellent gift for just about anyone. It might be worth having an extra for out in the garage too. This is a necessity, and there's just no substitute when you really need it. Add it to the cart and thank me when you need it.

Works for what I needed but if the actual firealert device had a rounded prong Wouldn't have needed the pigtail

It sounds like you're talking about the Gas Variant automatically cutting the gas valve when the stove is shut off. That is one of the key safety features that the Gas Auto Stove Shutoff will always do to prevent gas leaks if the stove is shut off.

Haven't had the opportunity to use this yet, thank God, however it looks durable and functional. Not too big and not too small. Prefect for my kitchen.
We got this fire blanket for our kitchen in case of fire. From what we can tell of the product, it's made of quality stuff, it's easy to remove from its pouch, and we imagine it will put out a stovetop fire. Fortunately, we've yet to have a real fire to know for certain. It just gives us peace of mind knowing we have this fire blanket available along with a fire extinguisher.
The device was installed today. We remained skeptical about its efficacy. A few hours later we heard the loudest cracks of thunder I have ever heard. And just a little later discovered that gas had been shut off to the stove. Assuming it was the cracks of thunder that did it. Note have to read instructions to turn it back on
Safety alerts work perfectly! It’s nice to be notified when something happens with my stove. It gives me some extra peace of mind for only a couple bucks a month.
Good quality packaging, looks great in the kitchen but also has easy to follow instructions right on the packaging, easy to mount somewhere in your kitchen or just have it under the kitchen sink. Looks to be a pretty good sized blanket

I can't say I actually tested the blanket on an actual burning stove or person, but I did drill my kids in ripping one from the well designed pouch (which hangs from a grommet next to an extinguisher). Because there was no documentation, I halfway guessed that there was not going to be a way to repack the blanket, There was no explosion of fiberglass threads which is a concern with these things, so a pretty good example of the kind.
I ordered this as a backup so I wouldn’t have to keep taking our kitchen fire blanket camping with us. I haven’t actually needed to use it yet (thankfully), but I did pull it out to inspect it. It looks just like our more well-known brand fire blanket. The only difference is that it’s folded a bit smaller, which makes it slightly thicker than the other brand.
Specifically designed to be mounted in a prominent location in the kitchen, for extinguishing kitchen fires. The pouch is made of durable heavy material with a large grommet sewn into the top, allowing it to be mounted. (No specific hardware is included.) There are clear, simple, well-translated illustrated instructions on use. The two black grab handles protrude from the bottom Velcro flap, so all you need to do is hold them, pull down firmly and use them to spread the synthetic blanket and lay it atop the fire to smother it while holding the grab handles behind the blanket to protect your hands. The blanket is gratifyingly thick and large enough to cover a home 6-burner range top. As expected, this is a single use item which you hope you never actually have to deploy.
I can never be too prepared for a stove or BBQ fire but it can happen, especially when frying or getting the fire too hot. I do have an extinguisher nearby and wondered about a fire blanket. But my firefighter friend said it would be worth it to have one around just in case. He also said to call 911 and have the fire department come out to assist and check things out regardless, (that would be my embarrassment!). He said to put the blanket over the fire only if you feel safe and confident enough to do it, otherwise. you'd burn yourself. The fire blanket is well constructed and the pull down straps make for a quick set up. The user instructions are clearly printed on the cover bag. The bag can be hung anywhere. It is wise to have one around, either for the stove or for a runaway BBQ. This is a necessity that I hope I will never have to use.
I have one already because it is the easiest fire retardant to use that doesnt leave a mess mess afterwards. I took out my blanket (left) and this new one (right). I am replacing my old one with this one. Let me tell you why: 1) The velcro bottom made to hold the blanket inside the bag ready to pull out in an instant. 2) heavier material 3) large bore multi-weaved 4) quality construction (seams well bounded) 5) Stiffen mesh makes it easy to throw over the fire wrapping around the item being covered.
I already have a fire extinguisher in my kitchen. However, I confess, I can be a bit of a clutz. I have visions of grabbing the extinguisher during a fire and either not being able to make it work, or getting the foam all over me instead of the fire. That is why this fire blanket appealed to me. Simply open the blanket and throw on a fire. Much easier to use. And it is much easier to store as well. Takes up less room. This is my first experience with a fire blanket, but it seems like a good quality product. I hope to never need it, but I am confident it will work well if I need to.
