Cheryll Leopold is a property manager but her initial motivation to use FireAvert was to help keep her aging father safe. FireAvert is here to give you peace of mind that your elderly loved ones are safe from kitchen fires.
“I had seen it on Shark Tank, and immediately went searching for it.”
“I bought it for my father, who’s 81 because he’s not always hearing as well as he used to, and I’m afraid that him being by himself, that tea kettle won’t be loud enough where he won’t hear it.”
After ordering FireAvert for her father’s stove, Cheryll tested it out to make sure it would work. After quickly installing it herself, she synced her father’s smoke detector with FireAvert then had her brother set off the smoke detector.
“Within 8 seconds, it cut the burner electricity off, so that it would not work anymore, which is great, because that’s really quick.”
Her father was (unsurprisingly) a little resistant to the idea that he needed extra help. But the whole installation process was so quick and after being installed he didn’t notice it at all. So it was a no-brainer.
“It’s fabulous,” Cheryll continued, “it doesn’t ever go bad, and all you have to do is sync it with your smoke detector so it knows that tone and you’re ready to go. It’s the guardian angel that you don’t know you have.”

Our clients that have installed FireAverts have seen remarkable results. Our tracking over six years shows apartment owners with FireAverts have suffered zero kitchen fires. All fires have been 'averted'.

"The word needs to get out about FireAvert. People need to know about this"

Michelle Butler is an experienced property and community manager. Despite her years in the industry, she hadn’t heard about FireAvert until she took over a senior residence community in the Midwestern United States that already had FireAvert installed.
It didn’t take long for her to become a big believer.
“The word needs to get out about FireAvert. People need to know about this,” Michelle told us. “When they started working, I found them to be a godsend.”
Michelle told us of one incident where a resident left something greasy on a lit stove and went to bed. A fire started but before the sprinklers even turned on, FireAvert had shut off the stove stopping the fire.
“After evaluating the damage, there was only cleaning damage to that oven range—there was actually no fire damage, no electrical damage. The stove was still in working condition,” she explained.
“If the fire hadn’t stopped, all the water from the sprinklers would have soaked from the third-floor apartment to the first-floor apartment. It’s water damage. You don’t understand how much water just one sprinkler lets out.”
In addition to the big benefits Michelle is seeing as a property manager, she also highlighted something we don’t talk about as much at FireAvert—the benefit to the residents themselves.
“Residents are much more comfortable knowing that the FireAverts are there.”
Happy managers, happy residents. That’s a win-win.
"It saves time, money, and probably a building from burning down.”

BK Multifamily installed FireAvert in about 300 multifamily units and we talked with Alvin Betham about how the experience has gone. He started by telling us about a few potential disasters averted.
“We had a few residents that left the stove on [and] FireAvert kicked in. It worked. It cut the stove off instantly. It probably would [have been] a major fire and burned down the building if FireAvert wasn’t there.”
Since installing FireAvert, Alvin hasn’t had to deal with any fires across all the units he oversees. He was quick to mention how easy it’s been to use them,
“You just plug it into an outlet. It’s maintenance-free, basically. There’s nothing for us to do. You don’t have to worry about anything catching fire with FireAvert because it shuts everything off. I would use it in my home.”
With years of experience managing properties, Alvin is no stranger to house fires:
“Here, in Texas,” he told us, “we have a lot of building fires. If you’re using FireAvert, you won’t have that problem. You don’t have to rebuild a building from burning down, [or] doing the insurance claim on the building. So, it saves time, money, and probably a building from burning down.”

“The first building that we installed it in, the resident did have a fire and it worked great. The gentleman left the stove and sat down in his chair to watch TV and fell asleep. The food burned and it set the smoke alarm off. The product shut off the stove and it worked just like it was supposed to. It worked great for us. So, we’re in the process of installing them in the rest of our properties.”
Lee Ann Hubanks, Pioneer Place Senior Housing

“A dollar saved today is several thousand dollars spent later. Fantastic product, it addresses every issue. The ease of installation, the compact size, the price point.” “I just installed 30 of them. And an hour after I installed them, we had a person forget a pan and it smoked and that worked. We got a benefit out of it pretty quick.”
Bob Hopkins, Beacon Communities

“You should use FireAvert because it’ll save you potentially thousands of dollars if somebody decides to have a fish fry in their oven. It saved us. They really do work.”
Michael Lowder, Hawk Ridge Apartments

“It’s actually saving us money. There’s not any kitchen fires happening. There’s not having to deal with renters’ insurance or having residents have to put money out of their pocket to be responsible for any of the cost of any damages to the appliances or any of our structure. I highly recommend it to anyone.”

"We’re just so excited that we made the investment."

“We had a fire a couple of weeks ago,” says Sue Rich, an asset manager working with multi-family properties
“[FireAvert] put the fire out really quick and saved the cabinets from being burned and the whole apartment, really. We’re just so excited that we made the investment.”
She went on to add,
“Minimum for those typical fires would’ve cost us probably about $10,000, if the people were home and able to call the fire department. If they weren’t home and the fire department wasn’t called, and we didn’t have those, then the whole building could have burned down.”
In addition to dramatic incidents like that, Sue was equally enthusiastic about the simplicity of FireAvert.
“It was such a quick fix. It’s just unbelievable really. To be such a little low maintenance thing. You just stick ‘em up there and boom it’s done. Anybody that doesn’t get ‘them and put them in their apartments is nuts. You should have them everywhere.”
Obviously we’re a little biased, but we couldn’t agree more
